Workshop - Afternoon

Location: KPMG, 10 Customhouse Quay, Wellington
Date: Thursday 15 December
Registrations: Open at 12:30. Workshop starts at 13:00 and concludes at 16:30

Title: Controls vs Learning
"The correct response to failure is learning, not prevention." The conventional response to failure is to analyse root cause and introduce a control to prevent it recurring (and often to penalise or punish those involved). The global Safety-II movement in the OSH sector has transformed thinking about such responses, realigning us to prioritise improving future success over preventing future failure.

What we will cover: We will practice a few exercises to uncover the principles behind such thinking, to see why it is better.

What to bring: No preparation required. Bring curiosity.

Facilitators: Rob England and Dr Cherry Vu; Two Hills Ltd & Teal Unicorn. Rob England is a generalist in ways of management and working, consulting mostly in Vietnam under the Teal Unicorn brand, and a specialist in IT management, consulting mostly in NZ as Two Hills Ltd. He has presented widely and written many books, including six(!) books co-authored with his wife Dr Cherry Vu. They live in Wellington when they are not working from their caravan, Mr Teal, or in cities across Vietnam.

Meals: Afternoon tea will be provided

This workshop will be available both virtually and in-person.

Full attendance at the Workshop will earn 3.5 hours CPE.
