Internal Audit Manager Tools and Techniques - Online Classroom

This training course is designed to equip audit managers with the tools and skills required to successfully lead audit teams, focusing on the responsibilities and perspective of the audit manager. It offers valuable insights into audit management providing a solid foundation for managing audit teams effectively. Participants will engage in interactive group activities and real-life scenario exercises, covering topics such as managing change, fostering relationships with key stakeholders (CAE, executive management, audit committee), and developing internal audit practices that can be applied across organisations of all sizes and industries.

Learning Outcomes:

  • At the end of the training course, the participant will be able to:
  • Understand the core elements of the standards relevant to the audit manager role.
  • Comprehend the key components of the audit model.
  • Compare the roles and responsibilities of audit management, lead auditors, and auditees.
  • Recognise the responsibilities of team members involved in the Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QAIP).
  • Learn the key concepts required for effective leadership and mentorship of staff.
  • Understand the components of audit planning, including the opening conference.
  • Learn best practices for conducting audit risk assessments, walkthroughs, and audit program development.
  • Grasp the essential elements of auditing fieldwork and testing.
  • Identify best practices for documenting audit observations, findings, and recommendations.
  • Understand the components of effective audit reporting and the exit conference.
  • Learn how to properly close an audit after the report is issued.
  • Recognise key metrics and performance indicators for measuring internal audit productivity.
  • Understand the formal quality assurance standards that the internal audit function must follow.

Delivery Format: Facilitator-led training via Zoom (Note: This training program will be delivered in four 3 and a half-hour lessons, over four days using Zoom. Registrations will be strictly limited to 12 participants to allow maximum interaction in the online environment.)
