Banks' climate change risk will eventually have to be factored into capital requirements regulators impose, acting Comptroller of the Currency Michael Hsu says. "It would be hard for it not to be, because exposure is exposure and you have to risk manage and capitalize for that," Hsu says. However, "there's plenty of work" for regulators to do before they discuss how climate risk affects capital rules, Hsu says.
