Presented By Alison McDonald, OBE
Alison McDonald OBE took up the role of Deputy Commissioner in January 2015.
Alison has spent most of her career in the UK, primarily in HM Revenue and Customs, from where she is currently on secondment to the State Services Commission. She joined the Commission in October 2013 to lead a cross agency initiative, in partnership with the PSA, to build a Continuous Improvement approach for NZ Public Service.
Alison originally trained as a Tax Inspector and held a number of large operational roles in HMRC before joining the senior civil service in 2008. She has held a variety of roles in developing Customer Strategy and Performance improvement including development of the first and largest public service Continuous Improvement programme in Europe.
Alison was responsible for UK Tax Credit and Child benefit Policy in 2011 at the inception of Universal Credit, to facilitate Social Welfare reform and immediately before moving to New Zealand she led the Development of Strategic workforce plans in Personal Tax for 24,000 people.
