The Role:

Are you passionate about quality assurance and eager to showcase your skills in a dynamic environment? King Country Pet Food is looking for an experienced Internal Auditor to join our dedicated team. Reporting directly to the Quality Assurance Manager, you will collaborate with professionals to ensure our quality system meets KCPF and SQF standards, lead verification procedures, conduct audits, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency. You will also assist in developing and implementing robust quality assurance policies and processes. The ideal candidate will have relevant tertiary education and experience in the pet or food manufacturing sector, strong administrative abilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

We are offering a full-time position, working a 40hr working week, with some occasional overtime and flexibility required around shift rostering in the future. 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Internal Audits and Non-Conformances: Conduct various internal audits (Quality and Compliance, Operational Compliance, Customer Requirements, Environmental, Ethical Trade, Health and Safety, Business Continuity) in a timely and professional manner, ensuring compliance with documented systems.
  • Participate in external audits and ensure timely resolution of non-conformances, coordinating quality improvement initiatives to address identified issues and minimize customer complaints.
  • Quality Reporting: Compile weekly/monthly/quarterly/biannual/annual reports on non-conformances, internal audits, external audits, customer complaints, detailing outcomes and corrective/preventative actions, including follow-up and resolution.
  •  Other Duties: Support process improvements and take responsibility for completing assigned tasks.

 Essential Knowledge&/ Skills:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or training in Food Safety Auditing, Quality Assurance, or Compliance.
  • Proven administrative skills with a strong track record.
  • In-depth understanding of Compliance, Food Safety, and Hygiene, with relevant industry qualifications.
  • Experience with SQF or other GSFI quality standards;
  • Experience in Internal and External Auditing of food safety systems;
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining issues in simple terms to operators.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Hands-on, meticulous, and detail-focused approach.
  • Dedication to outstanding customer service.
  • Enthusiastic, can-do attitude with a willingness to go the extra mile.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to meet multiple deadlines and prioritize work effectively.
