About the Role

Briscoe Group is seeking an experienced audit and data professional to join our Group Audit team as an Internal Auditor - Information Systems and Data. Reporting to the Internal Audit Manager, this position plays a key role in strengthening our control environment.

The Internal Auditor - Information Systems and Data is responsible for planning and executing audit activities with a strong emphasis on data-led risk identification and mitigation. You will assess the effectiveness of controls across business systems, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. You'll also provide advice and expertise to other business units to ensure adequate control or risk mitigation is factored into new or changing systems and processes.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Develop and maintain queries and scripts for our continuous audit models, reports and dashboards
  • Extract and analyse data across platforms to identify risks and control breakdowns
  • Conduct audits across systems, processes, and policies to assess control effectiveness
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve risk management and compliance
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to embed controls in business processes
  • Support innovation and technical skill development within the audit team

What We're Looking For:

  • You will bring a strong foundation in audit, data analytics, and systems evaluation, ideally within a complex or multi-site environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in a similar role involving audit, data analytics, or IT risk
  • Strong working knowledge of task automation and scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, and Excel VB macros, with the ability to apply them in data analytics and audit-related tasks
  • Skilled in using data analysis and reporting tools such as SQL, Tableau, and Microsoft Excel to extract insights and communicate findings effectively
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud-based environments (e.g. Google Cloud, Azure, or AWS) and SAP access management
  • Strong understanding of business processes and risks in a retail or commercial environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and urgency
  • Familiarity with IT security and control frameworks (NIST, COBIT, ISO) and PCI DSS
