The Department of Corrections seeks a highly experienced and strategic senior internal audit professional to lead our internal audit function.

Here is your chance to join a large, complex and interesting organisation that not only understands the value of assurance, but expects our input into major projects, programmes and change initiatives.

Our internal audit programme covers a broad range of areas, and will take you beyond corporate functions to frontline services. One week, you may be overseeing an audit of our accounts receivable process, the next you could be looking at processes or programmes in one of our prisons or community sites.

As Manager Internal Audit you will use your exceptional and proven people skills to manage the day-to-day business of the Internal Audit team. You'll lead the strategic direction for internal audit in line with the Department's goals.

You will mentor, inspire and train a team of five internal auditors who have varying levels of experience. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of the relationship with our Key Audit Partner.

You will possess

  • A relevant tertiary qualification
  • At least three years' experience in a senior auditor or internal audit management position
  • Membership of the IIANZ is essential
  • A professional certification in finance or assurance is preferred, for example CIA, CA, CISA.
  • Experience developing and implementing best practice internal audit processes and methodologies across an organisation
  • Exceptional and proven people management and influencing skills
