The Institute of Internal Auditors New Zealand (IIA NZ) provides Internal Auditing practitioners, executive management, boards of directors and audit committees with standards, guidance and information on Internal Auditing best practices. The Institute has membership drawn from both private and public sectors. The Institute is affiliated with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA Global) in the USA and the numerous IIA Chapters around the world.

IIA NZ is an incorporated society with a governing board elected from the membership of the organisation.

Exciting times are upon us as we kick off Global IA Awareness Month today!

Throughout the month of May, we will be engaging in a series of events, discussions, and initiatives aimed at highlighting the positive impact of internal audit here in New Zealand. While promoting the value of internal audit is essential year-round, May holds special significance as we champion our profession.

First and foremost, I invite you to watch a special message from The IIA's President and CEO, Mr. Anthony J. Pugliese, as he celebrates IA Awareness Month with us. Let's join hands in spreading awareness of internal audit within our workplaces, organisations, and even among friends. Let us all advocate and become champions for our profession during this special month.

IIA NZ is thrilled to announce a lineup of over 27 events scheduled throughout May as part of our celebration of the internal audit profession. Starting with our inaugural IIA NZ Roadshows for members, where we will bid farewell to our esteemed IIA NZ Chair, YY Lee, and other board members, ahead of the AGM on 22 May. During each Roadshow, members can expect updates on various important topics including the Global IA Standards transition, updates on the Incorporated Society Act Constitution changes, Advocacy initiatives, insights from our Committee Chairs, and updates from our Ambassadors regarding membership.

Additionally, we invite you to participate in our Business Writing course and the newly developed Advanced Ethics course. For those who are new or are aspiring to become Auditors in Charge we have the Auditor in Charge mentorship forum, while budding internal auditors are heading along to the Fundamentals of Internal Auditing training course on Monday (registrations have now closed). We're excited to announce that Education Day 2024 is scheduled for Wednesday 29 April, in Auckland. Registrations are filling up rapidly, so don't delay - secure your spot today to ensure you don't miss out on this knowledge sharing opportunity!

As we approach the end of May, stay tuned for the launch of registrations for the IIA NZ Conference 2024, scheduled for 5 - 6 November 2024, at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, Wellington. We will also provide updates on the IIA NZ Training Programme, reflecting our commitment to delivering exceptional value to all our members, regardless of where you are in your internal auditing journey.

The IIA NZ hosted another successful Lunch n Learn event on 23 April 2024, featuring Julie Haggie, CEO of Transparency International New Zealand (TINZ), who posed the thought-provoking question, "Is 3rd in the world still ok?" as we delved into the Corruption Perceptions Index.

We were delighted to see a fantastic turnout of both members and non-members, all of whom greatly benefited from Julie's insights, expertise, and engaging presentation.
