Fraud Investigation Case Study

David Seath led the investigation into the so-called "Red Sparrow" - the employee of Canterbury District Health Board who stole over $1m from her employer and was jailed for three years in October 2020.

David worked closely with CDHB's internal audit team on this engagement and will share how the fraud came to light, the details of the investigation and, importantly, the lessons learnt that internal auditors can take back to their places of work.
