Topic: Internal Auditors and External Auditors - Future Direction

The intent of our topic is to better understand the needs of both audit professions and discover ways of greater collaboration. For example; assisting with non-financial information tests at the time the external auditors perform the annual accounts audit, and how the work of internal audit can be of assistance. It would be useful to share insights as to the synergies between the two audit professions.

In addition, we are keen to learn how the internal audit function can provide greater value to the Audit Committee and therefore insights we can garner from an experienced Audit Committee member who can provide a perspective on both audit functions within the committee forum.

Presenters: Matt White, Assurance Partner, PwC Hamilton; Bruce Robertson, who has been a member on a several ARC's and has worked at the OAG; and Anthony Steele, Internal Audit Partner, PwC Auckland.

External Auditor: Max will provide a perspective on the value of Internal Auditors, and how and in what situations the two professions can collaborate.

Audit Committee member: Bruce will provide insights from the Audit Committee perspective as to the value of both auditor professions as well as the future direction of, and (hopefully) some tips from the committee's view on, internal audit.

Internal Auditor: Anthony will provide insights in to the evolution of internal audit and working with external auditors and the Audit Committee.
