TechTalk - Climate Change

Why it should be on your audit plan?

TechTalks are 60 minute sessions conducted over the Zoom Meeting Platform. TechTalks will focus on practical approaches to internal audits of various kinds as well as the application of current assurance strategies and methodolgies.

Our 'climate change - why it should be on your audit plan' session will cover:

  • Why climate change risk should be in your audit universe
  • Looking beyond the impacts of extreme weather - Understanding the environmental compliance regime
  • Overview of where Australian business operations stand globally and what international requirements may apply
  • Understanding the risk impacts of inaction on climate change
  • Focus areas of the regulator regime over climate change

Presenter: Fleur Crowe, Business Manager - Power Services, Power and Water Corporation

Fleur is a highly knowledgeable and visionary professional with an infectious enthusiasm and passion for seeing the possibilities and to drive initiatives for a sustainable future. Fleur is not afraid to challenge the norms, will embrace innovative methods to achieve the best outcome, often committing her own blood, sweat and tears to bring a project to a successful conclusion. Her work in the energy sector, combined with her grasp of the existing and likely impacts of climate change puts her in a powerful position to understand and promote the benefits of investing in innovation and challenging her own footprint.

Fleur has worked in energy industry for over 25 years, most recently joining Power and Water Corporation, Darwin in 2015. Prior roles have included Downer Edi, Horizon Power and Western Power. In her spare time, Fleur is a volunteer leader of the Climate Reality Project, chaired by Hon Al Gore, since 2007, secretary for Parap Primary (Eco) school and committee member for NT Cycling.

Fleur is a passionate daily commuting and touring cyclist, having solo toured in Iceland, France, Czech Republic, Western Australian, Tasmania and more recently tandem toured in Germany (2018) with her 8 year old son. Fleur holds an MBA (UWA 2005), CPA (2011), B.Com (1994), knows very little about auditing and doesn't own a car.
