The Small Practitioners Interest Group (SPIG) is a discussion and networking forum for members in small teams to share experiences, issues and challenges they face. The group meet four times a year. All are welcome.

Topic: ESG Practical Application for Internal Audit with Victoria Ashplant and Jade Collins - PwC

Event Overview:

Jade and Victoria debate the challenges companies face addressing sustainability risks and opportunities in their business. Hear practical examples of how companies in New Zealand, and globally, are using risk and assurance functions to build trust and resilience.

Victoria's Bio: Victoria is a Partner in PwC's sustainability assurance practice. She also has a global role, developing our international response to meeting stakeholder needs for trusted sustainability reporting and assurance.

Her background includes working with NZ organisations on matters of reporting and assurance affecting governance, risk and compliance, including audit services.

  • Assurance Partner for a portfolio of climate reporting entities in Aotearoa
  • 3 years in a global sustainability reporting and assurance Network role
  • 15 years auditing financial and non-financial information in the UK and New Zealand
  • Secondment experience into corporate reporting and internal audit
Jade's Bio: Jade is a Partner in PwC's risk services practice. She supports organisations to mature their governance and risk management frameworks to enable effective oversight, decision making and action. Jade also leads the delivery of internal audit programmes for both public and private sector organisations. She has been a member of the IIA NZ for over 15 years.

Jade has a strong focus on ensuring sustainability commitments and risks are well considered by risk and IA functions - done in a way that leverages great existing practices, drives resilience of assets and future proofing of strategy. Jade's experience includes:

  • Internal audits across the spectrum of topics within the ESG pillars, including: climate change, worker welfare, HSW, Te Tiriti o Waitangi alignment, data privacy, sustainability reporting and governance.
  • Supporting a range of NZ clients in understanding the impact of climate change on their organisation, with the assessment of climate-related risks and opportunities and the development of climate risk management frameworks.
