Special Interest Groups

Small Practice Group (SPIG) and Public Sector Interest Group (PSIG)

Sponsored by The Wellington Chapter

The Small Practice Group, coordinated by Roger Metcalfe meets quarterly (generally in February, April, July and October).

The definition of a small practice is somewhat fluid, but the aim of the group is to provide a forum to discuss issues and challenges that face those of us who aren't part of a larger team.  However we don't turn anyone away, so if a particular topic interests you, feel free to come along.

We operate as a discussion group (putting into practice the IIA motto "Progress through Sharing", meeting from 3.30 - 5.00 pm, with social networking afterwards.

At previous meetings we've looked at quality reviews, audit work papers, audit planning and project quality assurance, as well as Education Days.

Small Practice Interest Group meeting – December 8th 2011

Our final Small Practice Interest Group meeting for 2011 was held on December 8th and was well-attended, proving again to be an informative and interesting session.

A presentation was given by NZTA on ‘Risk Management in a Small Practice’ and included aspects of NZTA's operations and some of its risks and opportunities. The subject matter provoked plenty of good discussion over refreshments.

The SPIG committee members would like to wish those who attended the sessions this year all the best for Christmas and the New Year and look forward to a successful 2012.

The Public Sector Interest Group, coordinated by Vicki Morris and Aloysius Teh usually meet twice yearly

If you'd like more information on either of these groups, please email IIANZ at admin@iianz.org.nz.  Meetings are advertised by sending an email out to Wellington members a couple of weeks before the meeting.
